Switching to SONY ERICSSON

Well, first of all I should say I am happy that I got a new phone. K300i.
But if I think twice I will have to differ in opinion.

I has almost everything I had in my mind for the new one ..except the Bluetooth.
" IR is there, so missing Bluetooth wont be a big miss " that was the thought in my mind. The reality came to be much horrible.

I had a Nokia 3120 before.. after using 3310 it was rather easy to switch to the 3120. The interface was very similar that I never used its manual for anything. Everything was smooth with that phone ..I tried the java games..MIDI..JPG ..everything I could.

Its major limitation apart from was its connectivity was ringtone-the poly was 16, and the colours lesser. Overall I was very happy with that.

I expected a similar switch to K300i. But it was not meant to be.

K300i is good. I agree , it has good screen clarity.. colour is ok.. UI is a little messy. The MP3 plays well.. good volume too.

It was the Battery indicator that I felt was bar better than the Nokias conventional 4 bar mechanism ! This one gave a much better info on the battery state.

I never knew it had a loudspeaker until I saw the advertisement in one of the weeklies ! Never saw it in the booklet and the online manual. I began the search and it took me long to realise that I had to press the joystick while on call.. move down 4 times to activate the loudspeaker ! That was too much .. I still like the way Nokia handled it. It was just one press away !

Another thing I dint like is the C button on the Sony Ericsson Phone. Ideally it should be a DEL !

Normally in Nokia we use the C to go back.. here ull delete your entries.. and it really takes some time to adjust. Better make some dummy in your Addressbook for safety.

Now the econnectivity.. i tried a lot .. it was very Difficult to get connected through the IR. I could connect only once to my friends phone htat too after a lot of effort. I couldnot succeed with the IR port that I have to connect to the PC. I had no difficulty in connecting a Nokia 6610 to the same. Now I have to move to the Usb cable ! HTe IR dont seem to work. I donno if its a faulty piece i have, but another chap too told me the same complaint about the phone.

They says it can connect well within 20cm range.. to get it done noce we had to place the phones touching each other.

I am left with no other choice.... switch to the serial cable.. lets hope it works
